DANVERS ART ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP
The Danvers Art Association was founded for the purpose of bringing people together who are interested in art; to give local artists an opportunity to exhibit their work; to present workshops and demonstrations; to encourage the arts, and to further the cultural interests of the community.
All those willing to contribute and work for these purposes are eligible to apply for membership. Please click on the link below to download a membership application form. Download Membership Application
After you become a member of the Danvers Art Association, you may apply to become a Gallery member too. This gives you the opportunity to display your art work all year long as well as be in all the art shows. Pick up an application at the Gallery any weekend between 12:00 - 4:00 PM
GALLERY GUIDELINES
The Danvers Art Association welcomes gallery members in good standing to exhibit their work in gallery shows. The gallery is a cooperative venture sustained by a small membership fee, the sale of arts and crafts, and fundraisers. All members of the gallery are expected to be active participants in fundraisers. As a cooperative, all members must take an active interest in the maintenance and care of the building. This includes all of the following:
Taking your turn sitting in the gallery
and
Working on all fund raisers
and
Cleaning the gallery including the bathrooms and kitchen
All work must be original. By original work, it is intended to mean no copy of other artists’ work, no copy of photographs from any copy written material or printed material is acceptable at the DAA gallery.
Prints of our artists’ original work may not be hung on the walls of the DAA but may be labeled as such and placed in our bin. Up to six shrink-wrapped works will be accepted from each member.
All art work must be framed properly and wired for hanging. The following measurements include the outside of the frame.
Mini paintings should measure up to 8 x 10 in. or length plus width of up to 18 in.
Small paintings will be from 9 x 11 in. up to 16 x 20 in. or length plus width
must not exceed 36 in.
Large paintings will be from 17 x 21 in. up to 24 x 30 in. or length plus width
must not exceed 54 in.
Oversize paintings will be considered as two large paintings.
The art work to be hung must have eye screws that are screwed all the way in to the base of the eye and it is recommended that the wire be looped twice through the eye before twisting the ends. The use of other hanging methods are not acceptable including saw tooth hangers.
It is recommended that the eye screws be located about 1/3rd of the hanging length from the top of the frame. The hanging wire should have enough length to be 1 in. to 2 ins. below the top of the frame.
Gallery cards should be filled out and attached from the back of the lower right. Artists may attach their own business cards to the back of the paintings. All work should be priced to sell.
Entries in the gallery should be rotated in on an ongoing schedule of about twelve weeks.
Artists are responsible for entering and picking up their paintings on time. It is the responsibility of each artist to make arrangements to have their work picked up if they are not going to be available. Paintings or crafts that need storage put an undo burden on the cleanup committee and those putting up the next show. After thirty days, a ten dollar storage fee will be charged and after sixty days, it becomes gallery property.
