NEWS FROM OREGON
(Rose Coffin’s son’s letter to the DAA)
Hello dear friends of Rose,
You may not know that Rose had gone in
the hospital in July for a short while, so I came out from Oregon in order to check
on her well being. I found her to be in good spirits but quite weak from lack of activity and having some significant memory issues. We have been asking her to move out here with us for some time, but she has been so
happy living in Brooksby Village with the wonderful community of friends around
her, that we were not pushing.
But we decided that a short trip out
west for her would be fun, especially since her friend Gerry Meguyer would come along.
So, the three of us flew to Oregon together.
While she was here for the visit,
several medical problems that required hospitalization cropped up and were dealt with successfully. During that process we were able to get a good assessment of her current needs.
Rose is 91 years old now and she has accomplished a lot in her long life. At this stage in her life though, Rose needs
someone nearby to look after her, remind her to take her pills in the morning, drive her to the doctor, make sure she drinks enough fluids and gets a proper diet, and encourage her to continue some mild activity to keep the blood flowing. We can’t do that if she is living on the opposite coast from us and unfortunately there is no one out east who willtake that responsibility.
So we, together with her, have decided that it is in her best interest to live here
with us in Oregon. She is happy with that
decision, she has a beautiful room here in our home, and she is being well loved and cared for. If you want to write, her address is:1301 NW Meyers Butte Road, Powell Butte,OR 97753-1882 ph # 541-447-6072
I am sure she will be happy to hear from you. Thank you all for your patience and
we wish you a Happy 2012!
Kind Regards,
Ron, Melissa and Rose
And Rose wrote a little note at the bottom of her son’s letter saying “miss you so much but need to be where Ron can look after me. Love, Rose”
